XPERT-TIMER, TIME TRACKING SOFTWARE FOR PROFESSIONALS

My business is based on keeping track of time spent on various projects, and later billing for this time. There are so many different projects I work on throughout the day, it is hard to keep track of what and how long I spend on each of them.

I searched the internet for literally hours, testing out different timekeeping and project tracking software, but none of them would quite do the job I wanted it to. Most of them had some good features, but fell down in others.

I eventually came across some software called Xpert-Timer which is written by a company in Germany called Xpert-Design. Most people know that Germany has a reputation for quality products that are well built and reliable. Xpert-Timer is no exception to this reputation and I cannot speak highly enough about it. I downloaded the trial version, installed it, and instantly fell in love with it. Xpert-Timer is configurable in every way and then some. I was able to have it up and running in less than 30 minutes with all my own categories and pricing, as well as lots more handy stuff that makes time and project tracking a breeze.

Xpert-Timer is great for all kinds of professionals including Lawyers, Graphic Designers, Technical Support, Repairmen, Web Designers and anyone else needing to record their time and what they do with it.

The first features worth mentioning is the fact that it can be run on your choice of MS Access database or an SQL database. It can have multiple users, with multiple security levels (You have the ability to set up different users with different levels of access such as can view there own job reports but not revenue reports etc).

When the program is running, you are presented with a Timer Bar which you can move around the screen and colour as you want. The timer bar gives you a constant view of various information such as:-

  • Current Project you are working on
  • How long you have spent on this project
  • How long you have got to go before you have reached your estimated time on a project.
  • To Do lists on a project

When you have finished working on a project and click on the stop button you are then presented with a window where you can type in the activities you were doing during that time.

You can set the options to ask you for a status report (The percentage of the project you have to complete) either at the same time as the activity report, or at the end of the day.

You at anytime click on reports to see your billable and non billable hours.

I have only mentioned a few of the options in this software. If you have any projects that you need to keep track of, I highly recommend this software. You can check it out here
